The masterplan for The Leighton centres on the concept of creating a peaceful community close to nature. Initially, this is expressed through the ideal location of The Leighton on the northern tip of the site. From this position, residents can enjoy the utmost privacy and uninterrupted views over the ocean and dunes.

To extend on this sense of natural seclusion, The Leighton’s twin buildings – Beachfront and Poolside – shelter a private courtyard that offers a quiet space for residents to relax. Here, the landscaping which will incorporate plants indigenous to this stretch of coastline, provides an extension of the surrounding coastal environment.

However, the masterplan for The Leighton goes much further than the building itself. In one of the most extensive community consultation programs ever undertaken in Western Australia, Brookfield is leading a project that will see the transformation of the nearby Leighton Marshalling Yards.

As a result, over 13 hectares of the coastal reserve surrounding The Leighton will be rehabilitated. Picnic areas and cycle and pedestrian ways will allow the community to sensitively engage with this regenerated environment.

By developing spaces for people to gather, relax and enjoy their surrounds, the masterplan for The Leighton will not only benefit the local environment but everyone who calls this beautiful stretch of coast home.
